Lesson 5 of 5

A sustainable practice

Use it where it lifts you, and protect the time where the work happens.

The danger for creatives is not that AI makes bad work. It is that it makes acceptable work instantly, which can crowd out the slow hours where good work happens.

Decide in advance which stages are yours alone: the first idea, the final pass, the parts you love. Use AI around those, not inside them: admin, summaries, references, the tedious variant nobody wants to make.

Review the split every month. If the tool is creeping into the parts you protected, pull it back. The point of the tool is more time for the work, not less.

  • Acceptable-instantly can crowd out good-slowly.
  • Protect the stages that are yours.
  • Review the split monthly.

PIXEL / THE COACH

Use it for the parts that drain you and protect the parts that are the reason you do this at all. Nobody became a designer because they loved writing invoices.

Try it

Name the three stages of your process you are keeping entirely your own. Write them down and put them where you work, so the decision is already made on a tired day.

Nobody else can answer you, and you cannot answer anybody else. This is not a forum — we would rather say that than run a room we cannot watch at three in the morning.

Your question goes up with the answer and without your name. Nothing identifies you, ever.

If we cannot answer it we will tell you why, and that one stays between us.
