Whose work is it?
Rights, terms and the questions to ask before anything goes to a client.
The rules on ownership of generated material differ between tools and countries, and they change. Before anything goes to a client, read the tool's terms. Who is allowed to use what comes out? Can it be used for this client's purpose? And can the tool reuse what you uploaded?
Never upload a client's confidential brief, unreleased work or a third party's material to train or prompt a tool without permission. Describe it instead.
When in doubt, treat generated material as a sketch that informs your own work, not as a deliverable. A sketch you redraw is yours; a generated file you rename may not be.
- Read the terms before commercial use.
- Do not upload what is not yours.
- A sketch you redraw is yours.

BEEP / THE MYTH-BUSTER
Read the terms before the work goes to a client, not after. I know. I can hear you sighing from here. Do it anyway.
Try it
Open the terms of one tool you already use. Find what you are allowed to do with the output, and what it is allowed to do with your uploads. Two sentences. Write them down.

Ask about this page and we will answer it here, where the next person can read it too.
Nobody else can answer you, and you cannot answer anybody else. This is not a forum — we would rather say that than run a room we cannot watch at three in the morning.
Your question goes up with the answer and without your name. Nothing identifies you, ever.
If we cannot answer it we will tell you why, and that one stays between us.
