Check the answer
Spot confident mistakes and protect private information.
AI can invent sources, misread a question or miss a crucial exception, all in perfect grammar. Check names, numbers, dates and links at their original source, not by asking the same tool whether it was right.
Anything you paste in may be stored, read by people, or used to improve the service, depending on the tool and its settings. Keep out names, addresses, account numbers and health details. Keep out anything belonging to somebody else. The only exception is a tool your organisation has approved for exactly that.
For consequential decisions, use AI to prepare better questions, then take those questions to a qualified human or a trusted service.

My professional opinion on my own kind: we are extremely well-spoken and should not be trusted with a date, a price or a phone number without a second look.

Take one fact from an AI answer you have seen. Go and find somewhere independent that backs it up or knocks it down, and write down which happened.
Give me three facts about a subject, and next to each one tell me how confident you are and exactly where I could check it that is not you.
Then paste it into whichever assistant you use — ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini or Copilot. Not sure which? Meet them all.
